Managing the response? Use the free property-manager packet →

Gather the right contacts

Keep the landlord or building manager’s contact details handy. Explain your role to the contractor and who can authorize access and work.

Describe access clearly

Mention the affected unit, floor, shared spaces, parking restrictions, and access arrangements without putting entry codes into general call notes.

Keep a record

Record when the issue was noticed and who was contacted. Ask the provider what documentation they can supply. For an Allston property, see our rental-damage coordination and Boston housing-resource guidance. For other locations, confirm the appropriate municipal contact separately.
